Dear Editor,
On Friday, Jan. 31, the rude behaviour of 50 to 75 Okotoks Bisons fans to the supporters of the guest team, and to the players themselves, was a display that should never be accepted in our town.
Between filthy language and condescending verbiage, directed at the guest team and their supporters, as well as one fan who was simulating masturbating and then acting like he was throwing his “prize” on the parents and fans, it was enough to make these people not want to return to Okotoks.
The police were called but with one RCMP member, one peace officer and one security person, there was not much that could be done due to the numbers of idiots present.
At the end of the game, the same rudenicks threw water, pop and whatever else they could get their hands on onto the guest players as they exited the change rooms.
At the Saturday night game against High River, the presence of four RCMP members and two peace officers kept things under control.
It is so ridiculous for our little town to have to use police presence to keep these hooligans under control. What a waste of our resources.
I’d like to suggest, going forward, that this group be warned that they will be removed from the arena and told not to return if they can’t behave. We should not be held hostage by the likes of them.
Smarten up, act like human beings or you are gone. Period.
