Don’t forget tomorrow May 5 at 1 p.m. is the last general meeting until September. The executive cannot act without direction from the members.
Our floor curling wind-up saw a close matched game between the rinks skipped by Al Ziebart and Jim McCreary. Al’s team came out the winner, so the Jean Harris Memorial Trophy went to skip Al, Joanne Billington third, Marion Kennedy second and Pat Ziebart lead. The overall high point winner for the season was the rink skipped by Jim McCreary, Carol McCreary third, Joyce Ross second and Kay Marshall lead.
We still don’t have a chairperson for the fall season, so let’s put our heads together and come up with a solution if we want to curl in the fall.
The Millarville Hort Club’s get together on May 10 will be a potluck supper at 6:30 p.m. The meeting at 7:30 p.m. will welcome Carolyn Bondy speaking about day lilies.
Griffiths Center activities have changed somewhat in that the Sunday brunch will be discontinued. Wednesday breakfast will be added to the schedule starting May 11, so breakfast will be served daily except Sunday and Monday. The dinner on May 19 will be Italian cuisine, so get your tickets soon at a cost of $10.
Our Valley Neighbours Club, located just west of the Royal Bank in Turner Valley, is a hub of activity. We have 200 plus members this year and you need not be a senior to belong. Our bylaws state “18 and over”.
Our ample club rooms are available for weddings, anniversary parties, etc.
The Sheep Creek Arts Council will host its famous rhubarb tea in our facility on Discovery Days on June 4. Come and check us out.
