The final week of January is expected to be downright spring-like, but winter’s grasp awaits as the calendar turns to February.
Environment Canada’s forecast for Okotoks and area calls for mainly sunny skies with a high of 9C today and tomorrow. It gets even warmer and sunnier later in the week with a high of 13C on Wednesday and 12C on Thursday and Friday.
Before you break out the patio furniture, be warned that conditions are expected to take a sharp turn for the worse beginning on Saturday, Feb. 1. The high that day is only expected to reach –12C and drops to –19C the following day.
There’s a chance of flurries on both days.
The long-range forecast on The Weather Channel calls for the cold snap to hold on throughout next week, with daytime highs in the –9C range for most of the week.
