There are only a few days left to donate to Western Wheel Cares.
The 13th annual campaign, which accepts donations from the community and distributes them evenly to seven charities in the Foothills, runs until Dec. 31.
Gayle Wolf, office manager at the Western Wheel and coordinator of Western Wheel Cares, said donations have been coming in steadily but slowly compared to the record-breaking total of 2023.
“We are so grateful to all who find that they are able to donate to our charity groups this year,” Wolf said. “As the need gets higher, the increase in the cost of living has made that difficult for many.”
The 2024 Western Wheel Cares campaign benefits seven organizations: Foothills Advocacy in Motion, Foothills Country Hospice, Inclusion Foothills, Okotoks Food Bank, Pound Rescue, Rowan House and Sheep River Health Trust.
The Western Wheel featured all seven charities throughout November and December. View the articles at westernwheel.ca/western-wheel-cares.
In 2023, Western Wheel Cares raised a record $100,002, topping the previous all-time high of $82,670 set a year earlier.
The campaign has raised $669,061 for local charities since its inception.
Between Dec. 24 and Dec. 31, call 403-938-6397 to donate using a credit card or to schedule a cheque donation or visit westernwheel.ca/western-wheel-cares for a PayPal donation link.
Official tax receipts will be mailed out in January from one of the participating charities.
