It’s time to cast your ballot.

The Western Wheel’s 2024 Readers’ Choice Awards launch today to give readers an opportunity to choose their favourites in the Foothills from a wide range of categories.

Voting runs through to Sunday, Sept. 1 and winners will be announced in print and online on Wednesday, Sept. 25.

Voting can be done online at westernwheel.ca/western-wheel-readers-choice/2024-awards

Western Wheel publisher Shaun Jessome is encouraging readers to cast a ballot – they can do so every day during the voting period – to show their support for their favourite shops and services.

"Readers' Choice is an opportunity for our readers to show how much they value those local businesses that provide them with outstanding service throughout the year,” Jessome said. “It’s one of the only ways for these businesses to get the recognition they deserve, so it’s important that readers take the time to vote for their favourites.”

Over 55,000 votes were cast during last year’s Readers’ Choice Awards.

There are almost 100 categories in this year’s contest that are divided into the following six groups:

• Body & Mind — Includes businesses ranging from hair salons to fitness centres

• Business/Services — Everything from art galleries to landscapers to pet groomers

• Food & Drink — Vote for everything from best burger to most romantic restaurant

• People & Places — Choose your favourite business owner or place to people watch

• Professionals — From accountants and electricians to lawyers and veterinarians

• Shopping — Select your favourites in clothes, groceries, gifts and much more
