There will be plenty of old-fashioned fun to experience at this weekend’s Priddis & Millarville Fair.

The theme of this year’s edition of the annual fair, which features a wide variety of competitions, contests, displays and entertainment, is ‘Country Fun for Everyone.’

The fair runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 17 and Sunday, Aug. 18 at the Millarville Racetrack. Admission is free.

Held every year on the third weekend in August, the fair celebrates the area’s rich agricultural history and brings the community together for a weekend jam-packed with activities.

Fair goers have much to see over the course of two days and even have an opportunity to take part in some of the goings on through the pie and watermelon eating contests.

There will be farm animal displays, including alpacas, llamas and miniature horses, as well as a range of exhibits, from arts and crafts to food and flowers. Antique autos and tractors will also be on display.

There will also be plenty of agricultural-themed competitions involving sheep, cattle, horses and llamas as well as the always-popular rooster crowing contest.

Crowds will cheer on participants in the tractor pull and Farm Strong Games, which will feature a hay bale toss and tug of war.

Other activities on the weekend calendar include stock dog demonstrations, cow pie bingo, magic show, line dancing, cookie decorating and much more.

The weekly Millarville Farmers’ Market will take place on Saturday, while a specialty market is on Sunday’s calendar.

The fair is co-hosted by the Millarville Racing and Agricultural Society and the Priddis Community Association.
