GALLERY: Star Wars comes to life in Diamond Valley

The Diamond Valley Sustainable Living Centre felt like a galaxy far, far away during its open house on Oct. 5.

The Force is strong in the Foothills.

Members of international Star Wars clubs came to Turner Valley on Oct. 5 for the Diamond Valley Sustainable Living Centre's one-year anniversary celebration and open house.

The Dark Empire, 501st Legion and Rebel Legion brought an assortment of costumed characters, ranging from original trilogy stormtroopers and Jawas to expanded universe video game Knights of the Old Republic II villain Darth Nihilus, to the makerspace to meet community members and work on their projects.

The volunteer-run Diamond Valley Sustainable Living Centre provides a 2,800-square-foot facility complete with high-tech equipment, including a 3D printer and a cutting-edge laser cutter, as well as plenty of traditional carpentry and welding tools.
