Hosted by the Diamond Valley Auto Club, the first annual Diamond Valley Show and Shine takes place on July 30.

After going a few years without, auto enthusiasts in Diamond Valley can once again see a local show and shine.

Organized by the Diamond Valley Auto Club, with support from the Foothills Lions Club, the first annual Diamond Valley Show and Shine will be held on Sunday, July 30 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. along First Street SW, in the former Black Diamond community.

Chris Challice, with the Diamond Valley Auto Club, said it’s a great way to enjoy the day in Diamond Valley.

“You've got custom cars, you’ve got trucks, vehicles of all sorts,” Challice said. “Whether they're in a stage of being done or made, old stuff, new stuff."

Proceeds from the event will go to the local Lions Club.

“It's fun to give something back to the community, and what better way than to do this,” he said.

The Lions will put on a breakfast for participants, and once it’s finished, there won’t be any vendors, Challice said, so that local businesses and restaurants are supported on the day of the show.

Prizes will be awarded for the Top 20 vehicles, and Challice said 20 local businesses are sponsoring the awards.

“I can't thank them enough, and it's all local businesses that stepped up to the plate.”

It has been several years since the last car show in the town, and this is the first since Turner Valley and Black Diamond united to become Diamond Valley at the beginning of this year. It's also the first one held by the Diamond Valley Auto Club.

The club meets on Friday nights at the A&W in Diamond Valley, with people usually arriving at around 7 p.m., Challice said.

Not far from the show and shine, Fly Spirit, Fly, the first annual Ian Tyson Memorial Music Festival, takes place on the same day.

“It's a great day for Diamond Valley, for sure,” Challice said.
