Morning Brunch Co. Okotoks officially reopened on March 5, after a temporary closure due to unpaid rent by the restaurant's previous management.

A local brunch spot is back on the menu.

Morning Brunch Co. Okotoks, located in the D'Arcy Crossing shopping plaza, officially reopened on March 5 after closing its doors in late January amid a breach of the lease agreement with property owner Anthem Properties under the restaurant's previous ownership.

The restaurant is under new ownership, with part-owners Justin Trach and Cassandra Reinheimer now at the helm.

The previous closure of the restaurant, which had opened at the end of August last year, stemmed from the initial tenant owing $42,063.77 in outstanding rent to Anthem Properties.

The new owners declined to comment on the circumstances under which the restaurant had closed, but are excitedly looking forward to what the future holds for the restaurant.

A soft opening was held on March 4 ahead of the official opening on March 5, and a grand opening event is being planned.

Morning Brunch Co. has two other locations in Calgary and one in Airdrie.

D'Arcy Crossing, which opened in 2023, is home to Safeway and Shoppers Drug Mart — the anchor tenants of the 150,000-square-foot shopping centre — with other familiar brands including Dollarama, Popeyes and Firehouse Subs, which opened its first Alberta location at the plaza.
