Concert to help Okotoks music students fund Nashville trip

Chase Morgan and Brettyn Rose lending their talents to fundraising event at École Okotoks Junior High School on March 21.

The public has an opportunity to hear a Grade 8/9 guitar and vocal group from École Okotoks Junior High School perform in concert as it gears up for a trip to Nashville this spring.

The students will be in Tennessee from May 7 to 11, where under the guidance of guitar and vocal teacher Cheryl Hutton, they will showcase their musical talents by performing popular cover songs in iconic venues such as the Country Music Hall of Fame and the Grand Ole Opry.

The trip will provide the students with a unique opportunity to attend professional songwriting clinics, attend concerts, visit major recording studios and tour universities in the area.

To help fund this memorable experience, the group is hosting a special fundraiser concert on Friday, March 21 at 7:30 p.m. at École Okotoks Junior High School. There will be a cash concession available during the concert.

Local music talents Chase Morgan and Brettyn Rose have generously offered to perform in support of the students’ journey. The concert will feature the Grade 8/9 guitar and vocal group as the opening act, followed by a 90-minute show by Morgan and Rose.

Tickets are now available for purchase on Eventbrite for $20 each. Community members are encouraged to come out, enjoy the music and support the students on their exciting adventure.
