The On the Edge concert series is bringing AV and The Inner City to the Foothills later this month.
The all-female soul/roots group will perform at Red Deer Lake United Church on Saturday, Jan. 25 at 2 p.m.
Fronted by Ann Vriend, a multiple award-winning singer/songwriter, the group formed through front porch performances in inner city Edmonton during the pandemic.
From April 2020 to October 2021, on every Sunday that pandemic restrictions and weather would allow, Vriend hosted and performed nearly 60 free concerts on her front porch in the inner city neighbourhood of McCauley.
Artists were invited on stage to share their songs and that is where the group of six formed in 2021.
Since then, AV and The Inner City has performed all over, including at the Vancouver Island Music Festival, the Calgary Folk Music Festival, the Calgary International Blues Festival, the Taste of Edmonton Festival, the Edmonton Folk Music Festival and the Bear Creek Folk Festival.
The group, which features beautiful, layered harmonies, is composed of Vriend and five other talented singers: Debbie Houle, Johanna Alleyne, Crystal Eyo, Alenka Lundell and Jenn Dahlen.
In February of 2024, Low and Lowly was released on all major music platforms followed by Music Always. Their third release, Lion at the Gate, was released in October.
Tickets for the On the Edge concert are $30 for adults and $15 for youth.
