Country music star Jess Moskaluke has credited Spruce Meadows with “helping fill the gap” in Canadian outdoor music venues as she gets set to christen the venue’s new stage next month.
The Heartbreaker singer will join fellow crooners Steven Lee Olsen and George Canyon for concerts on June 15 and 16, presented by Brookfield Residential.
The concerts are included in admission for the National, presented by Rolex, the first of Spruce Meadows’ world-class summer show jumping tournaments and affordable weekends of family fun.
“I know both Steven and George, they are lovely people, and this is the first time we get to perform together,” Moskaluke said. “Steven and I are pop-country while George is more traditional, and a fantastic storyteller.
“We are going to do everything we can to make it an absolute blast. I can’t wait to perform at Spruce Meadows – the grounds are so beautiful, it’s going to be amazing.
“I’m also super-appreciative for what Spruce Meadows is doing for live music, and I can’t wait to check out the stage. They are definitely helping fill a gap for more outdoor music venues across the country.”
Moskaluke said there’s something magical about an outdoor summer concert.
“It’s different from night clubs and other indoor places where concerts normally take place,” she said.
Moskaluke, who lives on a 20-acre property in rural Saskatchewan with husband Clay and rescue dogs Nala and Blu, said she can’t wait to be back in Calgary, especially to visit the local breweries, catch some other live music and watch show jumping for the first time.
Moskaluke, Olsen and Canyon take to the stage on Saturday, June 15 at 6 p.m. and Sunday, June 16 at 1 p.m.
The new stage at Spruce Meadows is due to be completed this weekend (June 1).
