The Town of Okotoks is gearing up to mark Canada Day with a variety of activities aimed at fostering community spirit.
The celebrations will kick off at 11 a.m. on the grounds adjacent to the Okotoks Recreation Centre and run through to 3 p.m..
This year's event promises a diverse range of activities suitable for all ages. Attendees can look forward to an engaging drumming circle set to kick off the festivities and encourage community participation.
The celebration will then feature various multicultural and musical performances, showcasing Okotoks’ diverse community.
For those seeking a more interactive experience, the Fit Set Ninja will make a return. This giant mobile obstacle course provides fun for all ages.
Craft tents, a bike valley and various other activities, including a barbecue in support of KidSport Okotoks, will also take place.
Town of Okotoks community event coordinator Connie Drake noted the festivities provide an excellent opportunity for residents of Okotoks to celebrate not only their community, but also the broader Canadian spirit.
"It's an opportunity for all of the residents of Okotoks to come together in a celebration of not just our community, but the country that we live in, and to share our diversity and our community togetherness," Drake said.
As the day transitions into evening, sports fans can catch the Okotoks Dawgs game at 7:05 p.m.
Following the game, a fireworks display will be held at around 10:45 p.m. at Bill Robertson Park across from Seaman Stadium.
