Today is Alberta Day and the Town of Okotoks is celebrating it with a free event featuring games, food and made-in-Alberta movies at Ethel Tucker Centennial Park.
The event begins at 4 p.m. with food trucks and lawn games, followed by movies starting at 6 p.m.
Jumanji: The Next Level is up first, followed by the family road-trip comedy RV. Parts of both movies were filmed in Alberta.
There will be free cookies for the first 200 people in attendance.
In the case of inclement weather, entertainment and movies will move to the Rotary Performing Arts Centre.
The provincial government proclaimed Alberta Day in 2022 as an opportunity to celebrate the history, achievements and opportunities available in the province.
Okotoks is one of 33 municipalities across Alberta that received funding from the province to help host Alberta Day events.
