Unique images taken around Okotoks could be featured in the Town’s 2021 conservation calendar.
Photos for this year’s calendar will focus around iconic landscapes and scenes that can only be found in Okotoks, such as pathways, the Sheep River and valley, streetscapes, or hidden gems in town.
One image will be chosen for each month of the calendar, and the top photo will be featured on the cover, with the photographer receiving $200 in gifts as a grand prize.
“People love this calendar, and especially in this time of COVID it’s something that is a bright side of life,” said Joan Botkin, Okotoks communications manager. “It highlights the beauty and wonderful aspects of Okotoks.”
Entries will be accepted until Sept. 30 and are limited to five per person, she said.
They can be submitted on the Town website along with a release form to provide the rights to the photos so they can be used in the calendar or other publications. There is also a model release form, should people appear in an image.
Submissions can also be saved to a USB drive and dropped off at the Okotoks Municipal Centre.
Photos submitted for the 2020 contest will be considered for this year’s contest, but those who took them are welcome to submit new images for 2021.
Each image must be high-resolution, and the ideal size is 3600 pixels wide by 3000 pixels tall, and 300 dpi, with landscape orientation preferred.
