The Town of Okotoks’ Environmental Education Centre hosts Nature Fridays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. where activities focus on a different theme weekly. Upcoming topics include: Polar Bear Day (Feb. 23). okotoks.ca

Strathcona-Tweedsmuir School is hosting Innovation Day on Saturday, Feb. 24 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Highlights include presentations and panel discussions from industry leaders, interactive play with VR and robots, and workshops focused on educators and innovation. strathconatweedsmuir.com 

 

The Okotoks Legion will be holding weekly Saturday meat draws starting Feb. 24. Doors open at noon; ticket sales (cash only) start at 1 p.m. Nine draws at the Elks Hall. 

 

The Canadian Chamber Choir’s Alberta tour will include a concert at the Okotoks Alliance Church on Saturday, Feb. 24 at 7:30 p.m. The Foothills Philharmonic Chamber Chorus will also perform. The choir will host a vocal workshop at the church earlier in the day. canadianchamberchoir.ca

The Okotoks & District Seniors Club invites all seniors in the community to an information session on Wednesday, Feb. 28 at 1 p.m. to learn about some of the programs that the Town of Okotoks has to offer, including Snow Heroes, the Town Taxi, Community Volunteer Income Tax and more. 

 

Pine Creek Cemetery Society members are encouraged to bring any pictures/documents of their loved ones buried at Pine Creek Cemetery (if they have not previously done so) to the De Winton Community Centre from 1 to 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 29. Time for Poets at the Okotoks Public Library has been rescheduled to Thursday, Feb. 29 from 7 to 8 p.m. It is an opportunity to try out that poem in front of an audience or listen to some local talent perform. Registration to perform can be done at okotokslibrary.ca. There’s no need to register to be part of the audience.  

  

The Okotoks Public Library is holding a book sale on Friday, March 1 (10 a.m. to 4 p.m.), Saturday, March 2 (10 a.m. to 4 p.m.) and Sunday, March 3 (2 to 4 p.m.). Books and audio-visual materials are 50 cents each; paperbacks are five for $1. okotokslibrary.ca 

 

The DeWinton Hall hosts Double Shuffle dance lessons on Friday, March 1 and East Coast swing dance lessons with Steve and Laurie from Dancealot on Friday, April 5. The Okotoks & District Chamber of Commerce is holding its second annual Business Celebration Gala on Saturday, March 2 at Sprung Structures. The event will celebrate local businesses that opened between 2019 and 2023. Easter Colouring Contest 2024 at the Okotoks Public Library launches on Monday, March 4. Kids up to 12 years of age can drop in to pick up a colouring page or print a copy from the library’s website. All finished creations must be submitted by March 20. okotokslibrary.ca

The Okotoks Arts Council and the Town of Okotoks are hosting Acoustic Nights twice a month at the Rotary Performing Arts Centre from 7 to 9 p.m. The next session is on Tuesday, March 12. Royal Canadian Legion Branch 291 (Okotoks) is seeking vendors for a craft fair being held on Saturday, April 20 at the Centennial Centre. Rich in Resources at the Okotoks Museum and Archives looks at the natural resources that have played a pivotal role in shaping the community's history and development. The exhibit will be on view until April 27. okotoks.ca

The Sheep River parkrun, a free weekly five-kilometre run/walk, is held every Saturday at 9 a.m. The loop begins and ends at the picnic shelter in Sheep River Park, and is suitable for all ages and fitness levels. sheepriverparkrun.ca    

     
OM Chanting is held every Saturday at the Okotoks Public Library from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. It is an ancient, dynamic meditation technique which helps us realign with nature and existence. Foothills Writers Group (formerly the Indie Author Group Okotoks) meets every third Thursday at the Okotoks Public Library from 6 to 8 p.m. The group is a community of local authors whose goal is to encourage and support writers during their creative journey. The Okotoks Chess Club meets every Wednesday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Okotoks Public Library.
