The Dewdney Players are bringing their one-act play Able Cable to the Rotary Performing Arts Centre from March 30 to April 1 at 7:30 p.m. Accompanying the play will be a performance by Okotoks musicians Brettyn Rose on March 30 and Dwight Forseth on March 31 and April 1. Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 at the door (seniors are $15 in advance, $20 at the door). okotoks.ca 

 

An all-ages Family Easter Bunny Storytime will be held at the Okotoks Public Library on Thursday, March 30 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. okotokslibrary.ca 
 

Children's Makerspace at the Okotoks Public Library allows kids to drop into the children’s area of the library and make a themed craft. Upcoming themes include: Easter (March 30 to April 8), Spring (April 10 to 17) and Mother’s Day Cards (May 4 to 13). The free drop-in program is made possible by a generous donation from the Okotoks Lions Club. okotokslibrary.ca  

 

The Sheep Creek Arts Council in Diamond Valley is offering more classes this spring. Starting on April 1, Nadine Crowchild is coming up from Lethbridge to give a class on beading on fabric. Starting on April 4, there are four Tuesday evening classes on Beginner Quilting taught by Joyce Brown, who is also teaching a weekend workshop on thread painting on April 15 and 16. The Okotoks & District Chamber of Commerce is hosting the 2023 Trade & Lifestyle Show on Saturday, April 1 (10 a.m. to 8 p.m.) and Sunday, April 2 (10 a.m. to 4 p.m.) at the Okotoks Recreation Centre. Over 180 vendors will be under one roof as the chamber has once again partnered with Market Square to bring its Spring Fling Artisan Market to the recreation centre that weekend. okotokschamber.ca 

 

The 2023 Alberta Summer Games are hosting a concert featuring the Travelling Mabels at the Foothills Centennial Centre on Saturday, April 1 at 7 p.m. Opening act will be Over the Moon. Tickets are $50 and available at Sobeys or online at 2023asg.com.  

 

The Big Rock Singers present Viva Italia on Saturday, April 1 at Okotoks United Church. There will be two performances: 4 and 7:30 p.m. The choir will be participating in the 2023 Verona International Choral Competition as well as performing in other Italian cities this spring. OM Chanting is held every Saturday at the Okotoks Public Library from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. It is an ancient, dynamic meditation technique which helps us realign with nature and existence. Join the Town of Okotoks, in partnership with the Okotoks Garden Club, for Lawn Alternatives — Green Living Workshop on Monday, April 3 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Learn all about options for grass-free yards from Mike Dorion, founder of Living Soil Solutions. There will be an Easter Bunny Egg-stravaganza on Wednesday, April 5 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the Okotoks Recreation Centre. The free event for preschoolers will include entertainment and crafts. okotoks.ca 

 
The Okotoks Art Gallery is hosting a Pysanka Egg Decorating class for ages 16+ on Thursday, April 6 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Enjoy an evening of learning about the Ukrainian tradition of decorating eggs while creating your own using a combination of wax, pysanky dye and live flame. Cost is $25 plus GST. 

 
A Veterans Wall Guided Tour will be held on Sunday, April 9 at 2 p.m. Kathy Coutts of the Okotoks Museum and Archives will talk about the brave men from the Okotoks district who fought in the Battle of Vimy Ridge. Meet at the wall on Veterans Way at 2 p.m. okotoks.ca

The Roots & Blues Weekend is coming to the Rotary Performing Arts Centre. David Vest, one of the great boogie-woogie piano players, performs on Friday, April 21, while blues guitarist John Rutherford hits the stage on Saturday, April 22. Both shows are at 7:30 p.m. Tickets for one show are $30 in advance, $35 at the door; a weekend pass for both shows is $50, in advance only. okotoks.ca 

 

Canadian recording artist Aaron Halliday is bringing the Alan Jackson and Friends show to the Rotary Performing Arts Centre on Saturday, April 29 at 7 p.m. The show features all the Alan Jackson favourites along with the music of some of the best artists of that generation. okotoks.ca 

 

Teachers Rule! exhibit is on view at the Okotoks Museum and Archives until June 30. The exhibit shares the trials and triumphs of some of the early teachers who taught in the Okotoks area as well as some fond and not-so-fond memories from their former students. okotoks.ca 

 

The Okotoks Art Gallery has a pair of exhibits on display until March 31. Laura Payne’s Hyperradial is an immersive time-based installation comprised of a mapped animated form projected over a painted surface. The Embodied Self by Sinéad Ludwig-Burgess showcases a series of mixed media sculptures that represent universal experiences relevant to the human condition. okotoks.ca 

 

The LEGO Club meets every Wednesday from 3:30 to 4:45 p.m. at the Okotoks Public Library. Kids aged six to 12 can enjoy playing with LEGO and meeting new friends in the free, drop-in activity. okotokslibrary.ca 

 

The Rotary Club of Okotoks meets on the first and third Wednesdays of every month at 6 p.m. at the Crystal Ridge Golf Club. okotoksrotary.ca 

 

The Indie Author Group meets every third Thursday at the Okotoks Public Library from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The group is a community of local authors whose goal is to encourage and support writers during their creative journey. The Okotoks Chess Club meets every Wednesday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Okotoks Public Library.
