GALLERY: 2024 Hike for Hospice exceeds all expectations

The eighth annual Hike for Hospice kicked off on Sunday, May 5, raising more than $70,000 for Foothills Country Hospice.

One of the biggest fundraisers in the Foothills returned on Sunday.

May 5 marked the eighth annual Hike for Hospice, which featured family-friendly festivities before the hike and run kicked off at Ethel Tucker Centennial Park.

Participants chose from a two- or five-kilometre hike, or a newly-added five-kilometre run. 

This year, over 440 walkers and 60 runners signed up — over 500 participants in total — which surpassed event coordinator Lindsey Dunham's goal of 400.

The event raised over $70,000, exceeding the organization's fundraising goal of $60,000, before it began.

All expectations were exceeded, and the 2024 fundraiser surpassed last year's, which had approximately 300 participants and raised $50,000, according to Dunham.
