GALLERY: Field of Crosses set up in Okotoks ahead of Remembrance Day

Okotoks' Field of Crosses went up on Nov. 1 along Northridge Drive to honour those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

The Okotoks Legion set up a Field of Crosses on Nov. 1.

The crosses are located along Northridge Drive, near Sandstone Gate, and will be in place until Remembrance Day.

Rick Oncescu, president of the Okotoks Legion, said the crosses bear the names of Okotoks-area service members killed during the First and Second World Wars.

Thirty-four crosses, adorned with Maple Leaf flags, stand in the Field of Crosses, and Oncescu said people are welcome to walk up and read the names of those who died in wartime.

Volunteers will take down the crosses following the Remembrance Day service at the Viking Rentals Centre.
