Skijordue is leaving the Foothills for Calgary

Previously held in Millarville and DeWinton, and known for fondue and cheesy outfits, Skijordue is moving its banner event to a new location this year.

After wowing audiences in the Foothills for the last few years, the “Greatest Show on Snow” is moving its banner event to a new location with a new format.

Skijor Canada announced that Skijordue ‘25 will be held at The Confluence Historic Site & Parkland (formerly Fort Calgary) in February.

Skijordue, an annual equine event described as a “blistering blend of snow, speed, style and cheese," has been held at the Calgary Polo Club in DeWinton and the Millarville Racetrack since its inception in 2017.

Skijordue includes competitions in circuit, sprint, relay and long jump, along with fondue, food trucks and an all-day après ski party for spectators.

Thousands of people and upwards of 100 competitors take part every year, and tickets to last year’s event in Millarville sold out. Previously a one-day event, it is being expanded to two days, and the competition will be an invitational format.

The new format and location will allow for more spectators and an entertaining, fast paced show in an accessible venue, Skijor Canada said.

Skijordue ‘25 takes place on Feb. 15 and 16.
