The haunting begins tonight.

Nightmare in the Campground is bringing scares and screams to Lions Campground in Okotoks’ Sheep River Park.

Nightmare Creations Haunted House has created three haunted houses that will be serving up spooky fun throughout October.

The Stabbin Cabin is a remote, forsaken shack nestled deep in the woods where a murderous legend comes to life.

The Asylum is a crumbling institution with deranged inhabitants and where madness reigns supreme.

The CarnEvil’s once-vibrant colours have faded into darkness and despair, now filled with grotesque clowns, a twisted gorilla and macabre performers.

After the kick-off on Friday, Oct. 4, the haunted houses run every Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday until Halloween week, when they’re open on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (Halloween night).

Hours are from 7 to 10 p.m. for ages 12+, although from 4:30 to 6 p.m. there are sessions without flashing lights or loud noises for kids and those with sensory needs.

Tickets are $25 per person, with group rates at $80 for four or 10 for $220. Each ticket includes admission to all three haunted houses.

Twenty per cent of all profits from the event will go toward the Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides, supporting the Okotoks Lions Club's mission to train and provide service dogs to Canadians with disabilities.

Get tickets on EventbriteHauntPay or at the door.

The Okotoks Film Society, which haunted Hub Town last Halloween, is not involved in Nightmare in the Campground and decided against staging its own event this year in order not to compete with it.
