Attendees listen as a government official provides an overview of the UCP government's plan to refocus health care during a session at the Best Western Plus Okotoks Inn & Suites on Feb. 1, 2024. A new round of engagement kicks off this month, with a stop in Okotoks on Feb. 7.

New engagement sessions are planned across the province as work continues to improve Alberta’s health care system.

Plans to refocus the health care system were announced by the provincial government in 2023, and feedback was sought in-person and online from members of the public and health care workers.

Additional public engagement starts this month that will gather people's insights and experiences with the health care system and provide updates on progress made, the Province announced on Jan. 9.

Sessions will be held in High River on Feb. 6 and in Okotoks on Feb. 7. Participants need to register in advance

Since work to refocus health care began, the Province has been committed to building a system that works for everyone, Minister of Health Adriana LaGrange said.

“By continuing the conversation, we are ensuring that their experiences, perspectives and expertise are reflected in our decision-making,” LaGrange said.

Prior engagement sessions were held in High River and Okotoks early last year as part of 65 in-person public sessions that took place in the first half of 2024.

Almost 3,000 people attended those sessions and nearly 30,000 participated in online surveys or in virtual town halls, the Province said.
