An information session is being held today for a large-scale development proposal in Foothills County.

Walton, the developer of the Oxbow Area Structure Plan, is hosting an in-person session to share an updated concept for the proposed development in the northeast part of the county.

The session will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Davisburg Community Hall, 258117–96 St. East. It will be a drop-in format with no formal presentation. No registration is required.

The developer will also be hosting a virtual session on Thursday, May 9 from 7 to 8 p.m. Register to receive the Zoom link at oxbowASP.eventbrite.ca.

An original proposal at the east end of Dunbow Road that included 4,000 residential units, 60 kilometres of pedestrian infrastructure, two school sites, three mixed-use nodes and a publicly accessible riverfront park was defeated by Foothills County council last year.

The proposal was the subject of a six-hour public hearing in January of 2023 during which speakers voiced various concerns, including over the scope and density of the project, traffic impacts and more.

Foothills County council ended up defeating the proposal in a subsequent 4-3 vote.

Since that time, the developer has evaluated the feedback and is preparing to resubmit an application to Foothills County.
