Volunteers load pallet bins with food donations dropped off at the Okotoks Food Bank during last year's food drive organized by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

They couldn’t make it any easier to help the Okotoks Food Bank.

Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are undertaking their annual community-wide food drive by picking up donations from front doorsteps on Saturday, Sept. 21.

Church members dropped off grocery bags at every home in town earlier this week with a request that they be filled and left on the doorstep by 9 a.m. on Saturday for collection.

Church volunteers will pick up donations between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. and deliver them to the food bank.

The church has been conducting a food drive every September for the past decade.

Last year, it collected 33,000 pounds of food and this year the food bank is hoping it hits 35,000 pounds to help fill empty shelves.

The food bank has been experiencing unprecedented demand for its services as the cost-of-living crisis has greatly impacted household budgets.
