Okotoks council was reduced to six members after a resignation last spring.

Civic politicians in Okotoks get a gold star for attendance.

As part of an accountability and transparency policy, a report is tabled annually detailing the attendance of Okotoks council members at council and committee meetings.

The report for 2024, included on the Jan. 13 council meeting agenda, showed that council members missed very few meetings last year.

Five of the six council members – Mayor Tanya Thorn and councillors Oliver Hallmark, Gord Lang, Brent Robinson and Rachel Swendseid – attended all 23 council meetings while Coun. Ken Heemeryck missed just one.

Council members are also appointed to a variety of internal and external committees that meet at various intervals throughout the year.

As far as those committees go, Swendseid recorded perfect attendance, making all 31 of her meetings.

The others also had strong attendance records: Thorn missed five of 42 meetings, Hallmark missed three of 39, Lang missed two of 26, Robinson missed two of 27 and Heemeryck missed two of 30.

Okotoks council was reduced to six members after Cheryl Actemichuk resigned last March.
