The Town of Okotoks has launched an online survey to seek input on designs for a new skatepark.

The Southside All Wheel Skatepark will be built at Howard Park adjacent to Foothills Composite High School to provide a skatepark at the south end of town.

Construction of the park was to have taken place in the latter half of 2024, but a geotechnical analysis revealed the subsurface characteristics require additional measures before construction can proceed.

A 12- to 14-week construction period is scheduled to begin next summer, but before that time, the Town is looking to finalize the design of the skatepark.

The online survey presents two concepts: a flow bowl with street features around the perimeter and a street plaza with technical street features.

The survey can be accessed at shapeourtown.okotoks.ca/skatepark. It closes on Dec. 3.

The skatepark is being designed for skateboard, scooter, BMX and other ‘action sport’ athletes.
