Registration now open for ninth annual Hike for Hospice

The Foothills Country Hospice fundraiser returns on May 4.

One of the biggest fundraisers in the Foothills will return in May.

The ninth annual Hike for Hospice will be held in Okotoks on May 4, with hundreds of people expected to take part in the popular event and raise funds for Foothills Country Hospice.

Participants choose from a two- or five-kilometre hike, or a five- or ten-kilometre run. Following the success of the five-kilometre run last year, Hike for Hospice 2025 will feature a new ten-kilometre run.

As always, routes have been carefully designed by the Sheep River Road Race team and will guide runners along the scenic, picturesque pathways of the Sheep River.

Walkers will get a shirt at the event, while run participants will receive a shirt, finisher medal and chipped bib.

In addition to the run and walk, on-site festivities including family-friendly festivities, food trucks and photo booths will be at the event zone for all to enjoy.

Participants can also compete for individual and team prizes including Best Dressed Team and Top Fundraiser.

Online registration is open on Race Roster until May 1 at 11:59 p.m., though same-day registration will be available in-person at the event beginning at 10:00 a.m.

Last year, over 440 walkers and 60 runners signed up — over 500 participants in total — and raised over $70,000 before it had even started, which surpassed the 2023 event's 300 participants and $50,000 raised.
