When one door closes, another opens.
That’s what’s happening with Safeway stores in Okotoks this week as the long-time location on Big Rock Lane closes for good at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, July 19.
A 47,000-square-foot Safeway store is scheduled to open at the new D’Arcy Crossing development at 9 a.m. on Thursday, July 20. A grand opening celebration will be held at 8:30 a.m.
The Big Rock Lane store has been reducing inventory for weeks, so by Monday evening it was looking pretty empty, although the bakery and produce departments still had inventory. Many of the aisles were cordoned off and stock was concentrated in other areas.
The good news is that many of the items remaining were discounted by 50 per cent.
