Costco will be testing scanners at various locations, but not in Okotoks.

Costco Wholesale in Okotoks won’t be scanning membership cards at the door just yet.

A notice on Costco’s website says membership scanning devices will be used at the entrance to its warehouse locations over the coming months.

The scanners will be rolled out for testing at stores in Ottawa, Edmonton, Regina and parts of B.C.

Once the card scanners are deployed, shoppers will have to scan their physical or digital membership card before entering the store.

Shoppers whose membership cards do not have a photo should be prepared to show photo ID, and guests must be accompanied by a valid member for entry to the store, the company said.
