A festive fundraiser returned to the Foothills.
Sheep River Health Trust's Breakfast with Santa was held at the Best Western Plus Okotoks Inn & Suites on Dec. 14, with community members enjoying good food and a holiday experience straight out of the North Pole.
This year's event, the organization's fourth-ever Breakfast with Santa, was a resounding success, said Christine Oakes, fund development and communications coordinator with Sheep River Health Trust.
"It's all about community impact," she said. "Every dollar we raise in Breakfast with Santa, as well as anything else we do like Photos with Santa, our Points of Light campaign, they go back into buying medical equipment."
Photos with Santa, another popular fundraiser back for the holidays, offers an immersive Christmas experience for the whole family. Learn more and find booking information here.
Points of Light, a campaign running for approximately two decades, is an opportunity to honour anyone who has had a special impact on someone's life, with all names being published in the Western Wheel in January to pay tribute.
Sheep River Health Trust is a registered charity that supports the development and implementation of physical, mental and spiritual health services in the Foothills.
Funds have gone toward essential medical equipment such as patient lifts and diagnostic imaging devices, Oakes said.
"There's so many people that are trying to make sure our community is healthy," she said.
As part of its successful fundraising season, Sheep River Health Trust also hosted its 12th annual Avenue of Trees at the Best Western Plus Okotoks Inn & Suites from Nov. 17 to Dec. 17, with a winner crowned on Dec. 16.
This year's fundraising was also boosted by the Light Up Okotoks "Flip the Switch" contest in partnership with the Town of Okotoks and the Western Wheel Cares campaign, of which Sheep River Health Trust is one of seven recipients.
