Users of the Okotoks Recreation Centre are generally satisfied with its facilities and services, according to an online survey conducted by the Town of Okotoks.
A ‘What We Learned’ report was presented to Okotoks council on Feb. 10 providing a look at results of the survey, which received 529 responses last summer and fall. Council received the report for information but did not discuss it.
The survey asked respondents how satisfied they are with the facilities and services of the recreation centre’s four main components – aquatics centre, arenas, fitness centre and gym – all of which had fairly similar rankings.
The Natural High Fitness Centre fared the best with 62.8 per cent of respondents saying they’re satisfied or extremely satisfied. The arenas had a 62.3 per cent satisfaction rate, followed by the aquatics centre at 61.6 per cent and the gym at 58.7 per cent.
When asked to rank facility uses in order of importance, 72.1 per cent of respondents selected the aquatics centre, which, not coincidentally, was also the most frequented component of the recreation centre.
The arenas and fitness centre were tied for the second most important use.
Forty per cent of survey respondents were pass holders, a group that tended to have greater satisfaction levels.
When pass holders were asked how satisfied they are with services, 82.3 per cent said they are satisfied or extremely satisfied. When asked how satisfied they are with the value of a facility pass, 86.4 per cent said they are satisfied or extremely satisfied.
The Okotoks Recreation Centre is home to an aquatics centre, complete with a lap pool, leisure pool, dry sauna and hot tub, a gym with more than 6,000 square feet for activities, two NHL-sized ice surfaces and a fitness centre.
