A free home energy assessment will help identify areas where savings can be realized.

The Town of Okotoks’ environment team will be offering free home energy assessments beginning in February.

This one-year program, funded through the ATCO Community Energy Fund, will be available during February, March, April and November.

During the assessment, an environment team member will demonstrate how to use the equipment in the DIY Home Energy Audit Kit to find ways to save energy. During this one-hour home visit, the team member will help you assess:

• Energy loss in your home using a thermal camera

• Electricity use of your appliances and electronics

• Air quality inside your home (it will not test for radon)

• Temperature settings on your thermostat, hot water tank, fridge and freezer

To book an appointment for a home energy assessment, visit okotoks.ca/energy-kits.

Residents can also borrow a DIY Home Energy Audit Kit for one week to help identify energy losses in the home.
