June 22, 1946 - July 31, 2024

Burrell Wolsey, beloved husband of Jennifer “Jenny” Treherne-Wolsey (nee Horsnell), passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at the age of 78 years, at the High River Hospital in High River, AB.

Burrell was born in Calgary, AB, and spent his youth in the Rosscarrock area and was a member of the Road Knights Car Club. After graduating from the University of Calgary with a Bachelor of Commerce degree, he joined the Bank of Montreal. Among his accomplishments with the bank, he was sent to the town of Bow Island, AB, to close the branch. However, he ended up turning the branch into one of the most profitable locations in Southern Alberta.

Forever having the entrepreneurial spirt, he left the bank and became a mortgage broker, followed by a major life achievement of co-founding The Drain Doctor with his wife, Jenny, in August 1981. Burrell and Jenny then retired and sold the company to his son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Jolene Treherne in 1999, keeping the company as he wanted, truly a family business. Burrell enjoyed working at his acreage/hobby farm and eventually took up painting at which he excelled.

Burrell is survived by his loving wife Jennifer, daughter Carolyn Wolsey (Brent) Foreman, sons, Kevin (Pippa Hett) Wolsey and Jason (Megan) Wolsey; stepson Bill (Jolene) Treherne; and grandchildren, Linnaea, Roan, Ella, Mckay, Nicholas, and Justin. Burrell loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Burrell was predeceased by his mother Anne Wolsey, father Burrell Motley Wolsey, and his sister Reeve Chant (Wolsey).

A Celebration of Burrel’s Life will be held at the De Winton Community Hall (114 Macleod Trail E, De Winton, AB) on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow at the hall.

The family would like to thank the staff at the High River Hospital and the Tudor Manor Continuing Care Facility for taking great care of Burrell.
