Our Jennifer slid peacefully across life’s finish
line after using every last bit that her body had
to offer. (She always said she was like a cat with
9 lives). She closed her beautiful blue eyes for a
final time,Wednesday, 31 August 2022.

Jen was the fourth of five children of Joe and
Peggy Scott (nee: McGuffie), born in Ireby,
Cumbria, UK, 28 November 1946. As a young
child Jennifer moved with her family to Okotoks
where she finished her school years. She spent
many years living near Pincher Creek before
returning to Okotoks to care for her Mum, Peggy.

While Jennifer did not have any children of
her own, she was like a second mother to her
many nieces and nephews. She was always
available to them as a confidante or on some
occasions a co-conspirator. During her working
life she was the head cook at her sister’s guest
ranch, creating amazing meals for guests
from around the world including a Governor
General of Canada. You could ask her for just
about any recipe and she could recite it from
memory - which was great… as long as you
were cooking for 100! (Her cherry cheesecake
will be missed by many!) She set the bar high
for the rest of us when it came to her work
ethic, often the first to arrive and the last to
leave. Anything she did she gave it her all.

Jen had many interests throughout her
life, cooking, snowmobiling, knitting and
photography to name a few. There was always
a pet beside her.

Her heart was huge! She had a truly caring soul.
Jen loved people! She always had time for a
visit.

She gave the best hugs, was mischievous,
funny, stubborn, caring, creative, spunky, and
as crafty as a fox, but above all she loved her
family unconditionally!

Jennifer was predeceased by her parents,
Joe and Peggy Scott and by her sister
Joan Ardiel. She will be forever remembered and
loved by her family: Monica and Allan Grisdale
and family, Len Ardiel and family, Val and Will
Hoogendyk and family, Jim Scott and partner
Ingrid Eschuk and family. Rest peacefully lovely
lady, when we see the stars sparkle at night we
will know you are watching over us.
Jen’s family would like to send our sincerest
thank you to the many people involved in her
care;

Dr. Thomas Fung and all the staff on the
Bonavista Unit at Southwood Nursing
home, the medical team at Rockyview
General Hospital in Emergency and on
Unit 94 along with the NODA Volunteers and
the HOPE team. Your care and compassion are
truly appreciated.

In accordance with Jennifer’s wishes, cremation
has taken place and she will be interred
beside her parents at Millarville Christ Church.
A celebration of Jen’s life will be held at a
later date.
