Surrounded by family and friends, Mervyn
passed away peacefully on Saturday,
March 15, 2025, at the Foothills Country
Hospice in Okotoks, Alberta, Canada, at the
age of 89. Born in Barbados to the late Egbert
Julian and Orma Estrella Brice,Mervyn leaves
behind son Mervyn Jr., daughter-in-law
Jai-Lyn, granddaughter Laneah, and
grandson Eric.
Mervyn emigrated to Canada in 1975 after
gaining his journeyman trade certification
as a welder. After living in Regina,
Saskatchewan for nearly 25 years he retired
in 2000, splitting his time between his family
home in Barbados and his son’s place in
Calgary, then Okotoks, Alberta.
Mervyn was a quiet man that lived his life
simply. Yet he left a warm and cheerful
impression on anyone that got to know
him. He will be missed dearly.
Mervyn is predeceased by his wife Dorothy Brice,
brothers Albert, Percy, George, and Kenny
Brice, and sister Ruby Carter. He is survived
by his sister Barbara Dalrymple, and will be
remembered by numerous nieces, nephews,
and friends.
A family memorial and internment will be
held at Okotoks Cemetery March 20, 2025.
A celebration of his life will be scheduled for
later in the summer.
