Dear Editor,
My doorbell rang a few days ago and when I opened the door, I was bewildered to be greeted by a woman holding my wallet.
She had found it on a walking path in Laudan Park on the west side of town, where my wife and I had been walking earlier that day. I was not yet aware that it was missing, which added to my surprise. What a relief to not have to deal with a lost wallet.
I thanked her profusely. She smiled and told me she had been born in Okotoks and that growing up here, that's just the way people had always been with each other.
Her act of generosity to take the time and effort to determine my address and return the wallet stayed with me throughout the day. I'm happy to report that the civic spirit she grew up with here is still alive in this wonderful town.
