Nikolle Grainger of Boy O Boy Flowers by Nikolle jumped for joy when she heard the news.

The shop picked up the most votes to be selected as the Best Floral Shop in Okotoks in the 2023 Western Wheel Readers' Choice Awards.

Grainger, floral designer and owner of the business, said she puts her best into every order.

“When you put everything you have into it, it's nice to know that people have appreciated it,” Grainger said.

The shop, in Main Street Market & More on McRae Street, offers houseplants, cut flowers and arrangements, with delivery available throughout the Foothills region.

With deep roots in the world of floral design, Grainger traces her beginnings back to the age of 10 when she began helping out at her mother’s flower shop.

Her mother is a master florist and Grainger trained under her watchful eye for many years.

With a passion for the work, Grainger began creating flower arrangements for dinner parties and as gifts, which led to custom orders.

Things blossomed from there, and her designs help people express themselves, no matter the occasion.

“The best part of it is being able to speak for the customer, without using words,” she said.

When designing a bouquet and selecting flowers, there are a few things Grainger looks for.

“My rule of thumb is something special, something long lasting and great smells,” she said. “It always has to hit all of the senses.”

She strives to offer quality flowers with great service and a personal touch.

“I treat people the way I would like to be treated,” she added.

The flower shop has been in its current location for a year-and-a-half. Being in Main Street Market & More, Grainger can send extras, like chocolate or a cup of soup, in gift baskets or deliveries.
