An Indian restaurant in Okotoks has found a winning recipe.

Social Kabob, a recent addition to the town's restaurant scene, was voted Best Restaurant in Okotoks and Best Family Restaurant in the 2024 Western Wheel Readers’ Choice Awards.

Along with the two gold medals, the business was awarded silver for Best Lunch Spot and for Best Wings/Appies.

Owner Amit Kumar said guests can expect a personal touch with every visit to the restaurant, and staff strive to make every guest feel at home.

“You’re not just a customer,” Kumar said. “You’re part of our extended family."

Since opening Social Kabob three years ago, he said the support and kindness from people in Okotoks has been overwhelming, and Kumar feels the restaurant is part of the community.

“It’s the community that makes us who we are,” he said.

Offering authentic dishes, Social Kabob uses traditional recipes that have been passed down and perfected, and the menu caters to a range of tastes, he said.

“Every dish is a tribute to the rich flavours of India,” he said.

Kumar learned his craft in Qatar and Dubai and has a passion for Indian cuisine, with nearly 20 years of experience in the kitchen.

Each meal at the family-owned eatery is made with love by expert chefs, he said.

In fact, Kumar said his love of cooking is the secret ingredient in every dish.
