A Diamond Valley man got the shock of a lifetime when he scanned a lottery ticket bought in Longview.
A store clerk told Allen Biggs he won $250,000 on a LOTTO 6/49 draw in December, but the prize turned out to be a lot more – $2.5 million, the WCLC said in a media release.
“When the clerk first told me I won $250,000, I said, ‘I won’t believe it until I see it,’” Biggs said. “When I found out I had actually won $2,500,000, I said the same thing.”
He said he doesn’t have big plans for the money yet, other than helping pay some bills.
“Mostly, I just want life to continue the way it is,” he said. “But I might pay off a couple mortgages for our kids.”
Biggs bought the winning ticket from Fas Gas in Longview and won the Classic draw by matching six numbers – 6, 9, 21, 24, 41 and 48 – in the Dec. 21 draw.
The draw was split with another winning ticket purchased in Atlantic Canada.
