Diamond Valley firefighters collect donations for the Oilfields Food Bank during the Firefighter Community Food Drive in 2023.

A major food drive in Diamond Valley is just around the corner.

Firefighters will soon be going door-to-door to collect food and other donations for the Oilfields Food Bank during the annual Firefighter Community Food Drive.

The food bank said that its shelves empty quickly, and the food drive is needed more than ever.

Firefighters will go through Turner Valley and Longview on Nov. 18, and Black Diamond on Nov. 19, from about 6 to 9 p.m. both nights.

People who won’t be at home can leave donations in a box or bag at their front door and it will be picked up.

Condiments, baking supplies, spices, cookies, tinned fruit and meat, and personal care items are needed, the food bank said.

The food bank has lots of chickpeas, mixed beans and spaghetti, but said it is grateful for every item donated.

Small, unopened items like bubble bath, soap, socks or stocking stuffers can also be donated for the food bank's Last-Minute Gift Table.

Cash or cheques are also accepted, and cheques can be made out to Oilfields Food Bank.

A complete list of items the food bank needs is available at oilfieldsfoodbank.com
