Fireworks are set off from the Millennium Park ball diamond in Turner Valley on Dec. 31, 2022. DIamond Valley is holding its Canada Day fireworks display at a new location this year and is conducting a fireworks test on June 12.

The Town of Diamond Valley is carrying out a fireworks test tonight to prepare for Canada Day celebrations at a new location.

This years’ Canada Day fireworks will be held at the Scott Seaman Sports Rink and skateboard park area to give spectators more room and a safer viewing area, the Town said in a notice on social media.

Given the new location, the test is a routine safety measure and will involve test shots and not an entire fireworks display, the Town said.

The test is planned to take place at the sports rink at about 9:45 p.m. on June 12.

Nearby residents were notified of the test and there will be loud noise while it is being conducted, the Town said.

The Town suggests keeping pets indoors during the test, creating a safe space for them and ensuring ID tags are up to date.

If for any reason the test doesn’t go ahead tonight, it will occur within a week, the Town said.
