Marathoners looking forward to an annual run through the Foothills will have to wait another year.
The Millarville "Run To The Farmers' Market" Half Marathon and COBS Cinnamon Bun Run 8-Miler will not be happening this year, while next year's run is still scheduled to go ahead.
This year's race, initially scheduled for June 14, has been cancelled "pending a refurbishment of the core volunteer organizing committee," stated the Millarville Racing and Agricultural Society.
"Some of the key volunteers with the organizing committee, that have been in place since its beginning, have taken a step back from the event," said board president Colina Clark. "With the focus on the 2026 Half Marathon, there is an opportunity to review and refresh the event to take its next best stride forward with the intention of returning June 20, 2026."
Last year's run, the 11th iteration of the annual event, had 628 runners take part in total, marking the largest participation in the run's history.
The iconic Millarville Half Marathon takes runners on a 21.1-km route through the Black Diamond and Turner Valley communities in Diamond Valley as they make their way down 192 Street and to the Millarville Racetrack.
Proceeds from the run support the Millarville Racing and Agricultural Society, which operates the Millarville Racetrack and hosts programs such as 4H Clubs, High Country Pony Club, Sheep Creek Weavers and Millarville Mutts & Mustangs.
The race traditionally coincides with the start of the annual Millarville Farmers' Market, with 2025 marking the market's 43rd year. This year's market is slated to start mid-June and end mid-October, with precise dates to be confirmed.
The Millarville Spring Market returns on May 10.
