Parade and more in Diamond Valley on Saturday

Members of the 1st Oilfields Turner Valley Scouts carry the parade banner during the Diamond Valley Parade on June 3, 2023.

It’s the biggest day of the year in Diamond Valley.

Diamond Valley Discovery Day, set for Saturday, June 1, will feature a day full of family activities, including a colourful parade.

The day will kick off with Oilfields High School's traditional pancake breakfast hosted by staff and students in the gym, starting at 8:30 a.m. and continuing until supplies run out.

The 56th annual parade gets underway at 10 a.m. in Black Diamond, taking a new route this year due to major road construction. The procession will travel north on 1 Street SW and turn west at 1 Avenue SW.

After the parade, Millennium Park in Turner Valley will be the place to go as a family festival will include bouncy houses and other inflatable games, a petting zoo, face painting, live music, line dancing, drum circles, an artisan market and more from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

In addition, two annual Turner Valley events, the Sheep Creek Arts Council Bake Sale at the Valley Neighbours Club and the Sheep River Library annual used book sale, are happening from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Diamond Valley Quilters, a group of charity quilters that has been around for over 10 years, will also be at the Valley Neighbours Club for a quilt show from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
