A familiar restaurant will soon bring a taste of Italy back to Okotoks.
Amedeo’s Italian Bistro, formerly R.F.G. Italian Bistro, is in the process of relocating after outgrowing its old space.
The restaurant's location within R.F.G. Meat and Seafood was closed on Oct. 15 to make way for a new location at 18-34 Southridge Dr., which is expected to open by the end of November.
"We were turning away about 125 people a week," said chef Amedeo Vallati, who runs the family business alongside his children Corrado and Valentina.
"People were just constantly complaining they couldn't get in, and the reservations were taking at least 10 to 15 days to get in on the weekend, so we started looking for a larger spot."
Vallati, who hails from Calabria in Southern Italy, is eager to bring his authentic Italian cuisine back to the Foothills through the new location, which will more than double its capacity and seat around 52 people.
