Enjoy good beer, good food and good times at an iconic pub chain coming to Okotoks.
Leopold's Tavern, or Leo's, is known for its extensive selection of bar food, including massive servings of poutine, mac and cheese and wings.
Leo's was founded in 2013 by five friends in Regina, Sask. to create a laid-back hangout providing excellent service and a down-to-earth atmosphere.
"We were tired of going to the big, larger-scale places, so we just wanted a small, quaint little bar," said Michael Ash, vice-president and chief brand officer.
The pub gets its name from Leopold Crescent, an iconic street in Regina home to many heritage properties.
The original location has around 45 seats, contributing to its more intimate vibe.
"We're a bar for the neighbourhood," said Ash. "Never over 75 or 80 seats in any of our bars.
"Just good, down-home service is what we're after. A comfortable space for everybody."
Today, the chain has over 20 locations across Western Canada, including four in Calgary and two in Edmonton. Its also got locations in Saskatoon, Winnipeg, Kelowna, Vancouver and Victoria.
"It's been a pretty awesome ride," said Ash.
The Okotoks Leo's location opens on Monday, Feb. 10 at 10 D’Arcy Ranch Drive, joining other new businesses at the D'Arcy Crossing shopping plaza, where it will occupy a coveted spot in the southwest corner of the development with a patio that has views of the Rocky Mountains.
Hours are 10 a.m. to 2 a.m. every day of the week.
