An Okotoks art gallery and an artist renowned for his love of hockey have helped Okotoks area youths participate in sports.
Cheryl Taylor and Janifer Calvez of Lineham House Galleries presented a $500 cheque to KidSport Okotoks representative Marg Cox in December.
Lineham House and artist Timothy Wilson Hoey pitched in 50 per cent each from Hoey’s work’s sold at the gallery to KidSport Okotoks.
His unique work shows hockey scenes and players, such as Lanny McDonald and Sheldon Kennedy. The paintings are framed using parts of hockey sticks.
Hoey, who works out of Victoria, fell in love with the Okotoks area while participating at Hometown Hockey in February.
Lineham House also donated $250 of art supplies to the Rowan House Emergency Shelter as a Christmas gift.
The funds were raised by a Celtic Christmas kitchen party at the gallery which featured fiddler Joe Hertz from Cowboy Celtic, Okotoks area singer Hannah Taylor and soprano Allana Shumka and others.
