The Town of Okotoks is prepared for Emergency Preparedness Week May 3 to 9.
Emergency Preparedness Week is a national awareness initiative that encourages Canadians to take simple steps to become better prepared to face a range of emergencies. Being prepared for an emergency is always essential and necessary, but even more so during a global pandemic.
Join the community in participating in the daily social activities as Okotokians continue to socially connect with each other during this unprecedented time.
Things kick off May 3 with the Family Porch Selfie Contest. Take a selfie photo of your family on your front porch holding a sign thanking an emergency responder. Then share at #okotoksstrongertogether
Other events includes:
May 4 - Mental Health Monday. Check in on a neighbour by using the Okotoks Neighbour Health Card. Reach out to a vulnerable family member or chat with a friend.
May 5 - Town of Okotoks Preparing Your Business. How the Town is supporting the business community during these tough times.
May 6 - How to make a 72-hour family emergency kit.
May 7 - I'm Stronger Because. A video debut featuring first responders, media representatives, politicians and others.
May 8 - Ignite the Light, Emergency Responder Parade. A parade featuring Okotoks' heroes -- first responders -- will be live-streamed at 7 p.m. Once again residents are invited to head out to the front porch and bang pots and make plenty of noise in support of the community and first responders.
