Eight weeks of free outdoor concerts in Okotoks

The Town of Okotoks has expanded its Thursday Nights @ the Plaza series this summer to offer a free outdoor concert every week.

The concerts will be held every Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Olde Towne Plaza on McRae Street beginning on July 11.

Open to all ages, the series will offer a unique mix of genres with a diverse lineup of performers and entertainers.

Here’s a look at the lineup for 2024:

July 11 — The Back 40

The Back 40 is a dynamic quartet that seamlessly blends the members’ individual musical prowess into a captivating sonic experience. The band members draw inspiration from their roots in traditional rock, country and blues, creating a sound that defies easy categorization.

July 18 — Elton John tribute

Rob Skeet and the Husky Tower Band’s Vegas-style show takes the audience on a 50-plus-year musical journey of Elton John’s greatest hits, complete with all the glasses, the costumes and the feathers.

July 25 — Wagonstage Theatre

A captivating, one-man, theatrical variety show, Paul Isaak has 25 years of performing experience all across North America. He combines skillful juggling, quick wit and audience participation into a hilarious, on-stage spectacle.

Aug. 1 — Dueling Pianos Kings

The interactive, all-request piano show features Pat McGannon and Kate Larocque. The two have almost a century of piano-playing experience between them and can play any song you want to hear, from classic rock to retro to the latest Top 40 music. No performance is ever the same.

Aug. 8 — Foothills Brass

Foothills Brass Quintet is a group of five versatile musicians from across Canada whose repertoire ranges from Renaissance to ragtime, Bach to the Beatles, with a healthy dose of jazz, Dixieland, blues and even country classics.

Aug. 15 — SNB 80’s Tribute Band

For over 15 years, SNB 80’s Tribute Band has been rocking the house at bars and celebrations across southern Alberta. Offering the most diverse set list of any 1980s cover band, their performances are engineered to keep people dancing all night long.

Aug. 22 — Three Hat Circus & The Magic of Steve Harmer

Three Hat Circus is an all-star circus duo consisting of master performers Joey Vedres and Noah Weigel whose performances feature a wide variety of circus arts, including object manipulation. Magician Steve Harmer's shows include audience participation and a live rabbit named Stew.

Aug. 29 — Silence in B’tween

A quartet based out of Calgary, the passionate musicians like blending classic musical genres of many generations, from the 1940s through the 1970s and beyond. The band thrives on offering its audience an interactive show and a diverse repertoire, including rock and roll, soft rock, country, jazz/swing and more.
