The Alberta Federation of Labour announced the 'Diversify Alberta' campaign on Feb. 24.

Okotoks residents will get to have a say in diversifying and growing Alberta's economy.

The Alberta Federation of Labour (AFL) is hosting a town hall in Okotoks as part of its recently-launched 'Diversify Alberta' campaign.

The campaign, announced through a press release on Feb. 24, consists of the AFL working with Alberta unions for the province to retain current jobs while simultaneously generating new ones, creating an overall stronger and more diversified economy.

The town hall's presentations and discussions will be hosted by longtime AFL president Gil McGowan and Energi Media journalist Markham Hislop, who will be joined by other speakers on economic diversification.

McGowan, who has been AFL president since 2005, announced his candidacy for the Alberta NDP leadership race on March 7.

Other southern Alberta town halls will also be hosted throughout March in Lethbridge, Pincher Creek, Medicine Hat, Brooks, Olds, Nanton and Calgary.

The Okotoks town hall will be held on Wednesday, March 20 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Foothills Centennial Centre. Register for the free event here.
