As 2023 comes to a close, we have much to reflect on and be thankful for this holiday season.
The new year will see Foothills County continuing construction on a significant water utility project at Aldersyde, further enhancing our business corridor with upgraded potable water services. This is in addition to Foothills Fibre’s high-speed internet project, which has been installed within the corridor.
The County has recently taken over full ownership of the regional airport, at no additional cost to taxpayers, and we are working to attract business in order to increase revenues at the facility. The installation of new lights necessary to illuminate the runways will minimize light pollution in the surrounding area and improve operational safety at the airport.
Foothills County is also excited to move forward with the creation of our new Economic Development Advisory Committee that will provide advice to council with regards to new and innovative business development opportunities throughout the County. With its approved 2024 budget, council continues to prioritize fiscal responsibility for all County businesses and residents.
On behalf of council and staff, I would like to extend our best wishes for a happy and safe holiday season and our very best for the new year. Merry Christmas.
